Promenade des Anglais

The Promenade des Anglais in Nice is one of the most famous sea fronts in the world. From John D. Rockerfeller Jr at the turn of the 20th Century to Elton John and many more celebrities today, the Promenade des Anglais continues to mesmerise visitors who stroll along its seven kilometres of palm tree lined walk way. For this reason apartments for sale on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice are in high demand

Commissioned by an Englishman in the mid 19th Century, the construction of the Promenade des Anglais heralded the arrival of the British aristocracy on the French Riviera. They were soon joined by the Russian and European elite, who could not resist the natural beauty and exceptional climate which aptly named Côte d’Azur had to offer.

Properties for sale on the Promenade des Anglais enjoy sweeping sea views of the Mediterranean sea, while plenty of amenities, including easy access to central Nice are right on your doorstep. Most apartments on the Promenade are within easy reach of a supermarket and a Boulangerie, while those situated close to the Carré d’Or have shops, restaurants and cafés more readily at their fingertips.

Apartments for sale on the Promenade des Anglais, Nice average about 9,000 Euros per square metre, though this figure reduces as you move away from central Nice towards the airport.

Apartments on the Promenade des Anglais are often in well maintained, modern buildings, so often come with the added benefits of elevators and large balconies from which to enjoy the beautiful sea views.

One of the iconic buildings on the Promenade des Anglais is the Negresco Hotel. The pink dome, typical of the Belle Epoque period, was commissioned by the architect Gustav Eiffel. The hotel is reminiscent of a museum with several famous pieces of art including unique statues. The Hotel Negresco remains an enduring symbol of the elegance and class which the French Riviera still represents today.

The Negresco Hotel was divided some twenty years ago, with the rear converted into a private residence with luxurious apartments, while the front remained the hotel. The previous entrance to the hotel is now the impressive entrance to the private residence. Enter and you will find a magnificent hallway with a grand, sweeping staircase leading to apartments that offer buyers a unique piece of Niçois history in this landmark building.
