Dating back to the Middle Ages, this ten-day celebration features daily parades, street theatre, concerts and more. Attracting people from all over the world, the Nice carnival gives you a chance to indulge in food and music, all in the mild winter climate of the Mediterranean. While this isn't the only Carnaval in Europe, it is certainly one of the biggest ones.

The Monaco Grand Prix is one of the most important and prestigious car racing events. In operation since 1929, the Monaco grand prix attracts the world's best drivers who race the narrow course laid out through the streets of Monaco. With changes of elevation and tight corners, this course is one of the most demanding tracts in Formula One. Many affluent business men and chic Hollywood stars come to this small principality to enjoy this event.

Otherwise known as World Music Day, the idea of this music festival was conceived by French musician and director Maurice Fleuret in 1981. Nice really comes alive during this night when people take to the streets playing music. Everyone that can sing or play an instrument stakes out a street corner and entertains the huge crowds that gather before wandering on to the next artist. The Fete de la Musique is one of the only nights of the year where, under French law, one can play all night without the fear of someone calling the police over the noise.
Nice Jazz festival July, Nice
The eight-day long Jazz Festival is one of the three major events of its kind in Europe. Located in the ancient ruins of Cimiez, it has been running since 1948 and invites a warm family-orientated atmosphere. Each year more than 45,000 people come to watch musicians such as past performers such as Miles Davis, as well as Dizzy Gillespie, Jimmy Cliff, B.B. King, Peter Gabriel, Eagle-Eye Cherry, Jamiroquai and Joe Jackson. Tickets can be purchased online through FNAC's ticket line.
