Five Things You Can Expect After Buying A New Home In The French Riviera

You’ve done the difficult part – you have browsed properties for sale in Nice and made that all important decision to change your life for the better, forever. Now you want to know what you can expect from your new life in the French Riviera. It’s an area that has something for everyone, from sun-seekers to sporting enthusiasts and everything in between.

Here are just a few of the great things you can expect from your new life in the south of France.

Incredible weather

This won’t come as a massive surprise, as it is probably the main reason for you buying an apartment in such a stunning location in the first place. You can forget about those dull and dreary UK mornings – the average temperature in Nice during the summer months is well over 20c. There are a whole host of beautiful beaches and stunning seafronts for you to enjoy. Promenade des Anglais provides one of the most beautiful seafront walks in any city in Europe.

Sporting culture

Don’t worry about missing the football either – Nice have a steady football team that play in Ligue Un. Among the more famous faces that play for them is former Liverpool and Manchester City star, Mario Balotelli. Monaco isn’t too far away, either, and they have a side that is performing well in both domestic and European competitions this year.

Outside of football, rugby galacticos Toulon are within driving distance. As expected in a seaside area, sailing enthusiasts are also plentiful and you don’t have to go far to ski either.

Terrific food and drink

The French are renowned for their brilliant wine and this area is no different. Côte d’Azur is a region that produces outstanding white and red wine that can be bought for a fraction of the price that you would pay at home. As you would expect, the food is nothing short of wonderful. There is a strong emphasis on Mediterranean-style cuisine, but there is also a massive range of alternatives, due to the multi-cultural nature of the area.

Better lunchtimes

Great food and drink isn’t the only great thing about lunchtime in the area. Most shops and offices close for a couple of hours around this time each day. This will take some getting used to, but you will end up loving it in the long run as you will be getting that time back for yourself in the middle of every day – all part of the classic, laid-back French Riviera lifestyle.

Great shopping

When you’re tired of all the beautiful scenery, sport and culture, why not take a look around Nice’s wonderful shopping areas. The city is full of treasures that make it a paradise for not only sun-lovers, but shopaholics too. The Avenue Jean Medecin is one of the city’s best shopping spots, so why not go and buy some suntan lotion for your new life!
