A naturally magnificent area and one of the most westerly towns in the Alps Maritimes department, Mandelieu la Napoule is home to beautiful beaches, restaurants and luxury property.
With a landscape similar to that of our neighbouring region, the Var, Mandelieu is an excellent choice for those looking for luxury property to buy with access to Cannes, Nice, Monaco to the East as well as St Tropez and the Var to the West.
The beaches offer variety and tranquillity to visitors. Choose from fine sandy beaches, to the red rocky coves, typical of the Estérel landscape. There are also private beaches where beach goers can relax in more comfort. The picturesque neighbouring village of Théole sur Mer, offers further beaches to choose from.
Mandelieu is famous, not only for its beautiful coastline and proximity to the imposing Estérel Mountains, but also for its abundance of flora, mainly the sunny mimosa. The town is so enamoured with the mimosa, that since 1931 it hosts an annual Fête du Mimosa; a carnival style festival, complete with floats, flowers and celebrations.
A must-see whilst in the area is the medieval Château de la Napoule. Built in 1387 it fell to ruin until it was bought in 1917, by American millionaires Henry Clews and his wife Marie. They renovated the castle creating a picturesque, fairy-tale style castle complete with beautifully landscaped gardens. Inscribed on the castle entrance is ‘Once upon a time’ in acknowledgement of the castle’s fantastical atmosphere and appearance.
