Flights and Transport to Nice and the French Riviera

As a perennially popular destination for tourists and prospective property buyers alike, Nice’s airport is the second busiest in Nice  with daily flights all over Europe and further afield.

From the UK and Ireland several airlines offer daily flights throughout the extended summer period, many of these continuing several flights per week into the winter too.

The following airlines operate regular flights to Nice, including some great offers during sale periods;

From Ireland; Aer Lingus, Ryan air
From the United Kingdom; Easyjet, Jet2, Ryanair, British Airways.
From France and other European countries; Easyjet, Air France (including low cost fares from Air France’s low cost subsidiary, HOP!), KLM, Alitalia, Vueling, Turkish Airlines, Lufthansa.
From the United States; Delta operate daily direct flights from Nice to New York JFK.

Getting to the airport

From Nice there are several options. The 98 Airport Express which starts at Nice’s Riquier train station and runs through the city centre, along the Promenade to the airport. The journey time is approximately 40 minutes.

From the train station the 99 Airport Express runs along Avenue Thiers and Boulevard Gambetta getting to the airport in around 20 minutes.

Both of these buses are operated by Lignes d’Azur and tickets are 6 Euros per person.

Getting around the French Riviera

Travelling between Riviera towns is easy as the area boasts an excellent transport system. Local trains run regularly and strikes aside, offer a very good service. Trains run almost hourly between Cannes, Nice and Monaco running all the way to Ventimiglia on the Italian border.

Inter-city buses link Riviera towns for a mere 1.50 Euros and run approximately every 20 minutes, though the low price tag means these buses can get very busy with many passengers having to stand. The train generally offers a quicker and more comfortable journey.

Helicopter/Aircraft charter

There are few more spectacular ways to view the Riviera than from the air. Helicopter charter is available from various companies based in the area.
